- Kentucky Timber Harvesting Training Series: Streamside Management Zones
- Description = When timber harvesting and forestry operations occur next to streams or other waters, special care is needed to reduce water pollution. Streamside Management Zones or SMZ’s are a set of criteria governing the distance which ground disturbing activities should be kept from streams and the width, amount, and type of trees which must be left around streams and other waters. The SMZ guidelines are dependent upon stream or water type and this video introduces the different types of streams and the SMZ criteria for each type.
